What is A Game Network?

Feb 29, 2008 by admin in Network News

A Game Network is a network of video games, sports and entertainment websites created by the people behind Soccer Gaming. A Game Network attracts upwards of 1.5 million monthly unique users who generate more than 30 million monthly page impressions.

When Soccer Gaming outgrew its name, A Game Network was born. In the beginning Soccer Gaming was exclusively dedicated to soccer games news, reviews, downloads, forums and everything you’d expect from a good dedicated games site. Well as time went on, and the Soccer Gaming network began to expand, we decided it would make sense to begin hosting websites outside the soccer world. A couple of GTA websites took up our hosting offers, and before we knew it we had a games network on our hands. Only problem, the site was still called Soccer Gaming, so no one really knew what we did and why we suddenly were linking to GTA, cricket, sports, racing, RPG and Nintendo Wii sites. Now though, with the birth of AGN, we finally have the structure of a true games network.

If you have a website that you would like hosted or would like to get in contact us, please visit our Contact page.

NFS Pro Street - Review

Nov 05, 2007 by jtace in Reviews, racing

http://www.racerplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17102

I spent the last 3 days in Vancouver, Canada at EA’s Blackbox studios getting a first hand experience of the final version of NFS Pro Street on the xbox360.  The PC demo also got released about the same time, so go check out the review and download the demo if you’re interested in checking NFS PS out for yourself.

Here’s an excert:

“ We got to play thru the career mode for the first time, I’ll try to give a bit of an overview of how it goes and was setup. We started out with a video introducing us to the character Ryan Cooper and his fight to get into the Battle Machine racing Org. They introduce the street king as well, and you get the idea that he doesn’t think very highly of us. Ryan’s a hot racer from the streets looking to go legit and race with the best competition. They wind it up with you getting put into Ryan’s shoes and you need to win one final GRIP race to win the raceday and get into the Battle Machine racing org. “

Should Tony Be Scared?

Oct 30, 2007 by admin in Sports

Having spent a great deal of time recently playing EA’s new Skate video game on my 360, it has dawned on me that the long serving reign of Activision’s Tony Hawk series as king of he skate boarding video games world may have just come to an end.

I’m not the only one who shares these thoughts. The video games journalist’s have spoken, and their message is clear… Skate now owns park. Look at the metacritic scores of the two games for instance:

Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground - 74

Skate - 85

Watch out Activision… because things can only get better for EA. This is the first iteration of Skate, and even with some obvious features missing (I wish I could jump off my board and run around) the game just feels a hell of a lot more realistic and simply more fun.

iPhone - I’m waiting until Feburary

Oct 22, 2007 by admin in Tech News

Apple has announced that they estimate upwards of 250,000 iPhones have been sold to “SIM unlockers”. These are people who have purchased the iPhone with the intention of using the phone on a separate network to AT&T. This is very common outside the US where the iPhone is largely unavailable at leading retailers.

My friend turned up for work the other day with his new toy and told me about his plan to join the SIM unlockers and take advantage of his phone here in Canada. I must say, I certianly felt the desire to fork out the $500 and join him… but I resisted the temptation… for now that is.

My plan is simple… I’m waiting until February. This is when Apple plan to open the iPhone to the world of third party developers. Bring on the iPhone version of Skype I say! With seemingly unlimited wireless access points all over the populated parts of the world, I plan to take full advantage and effectively eliminate my need for a cellular voice plan.

Think about it… if you have Skype on your iPhone, and you work in a location with access to a wireless internet, why will you ever need a voice plan?

Actually maybe I won’t have to wait until February after all.

FIFA or PES?

Oct 21, 2007 by admin in FIFA, PES

The battle for soccer games supremacy. Since we last asked this question a lot has changed. FIFA is, believe it or not… playing like a game of football. PES is, unsurprisingly still a high quality game.

So which game is it for you? FIFA or PES?

Post a comment and let us know.

Lets get this party started!

About time! Finally we’ve taken the big step and launched a proper games network! Those of you who have followed the links from Soccer Gaming will understand exactly what I’m talking about here. For everyone else, I should explain…

Ten years ago (almost to the day) Soccer Gaming was born. In the beginning Soccer Gaming was exclusively dedicated to soccer games news, reviews, downloads, forums and everything you’d expect from a good dedicated games site. Well as time went on, and the SG network began to expand, we decided it would be cool to begin hosting websites outside the soccer world.

So there you have it, ten years of growth and evolution summed up in one paragraph.

What should you expect from AGN? Really… just good quality blogging from a select group of experienced video games webmasters about the world of video games.

As a network AGN is expanding quickly, and if you run a quality games website and want high speed and reliable dedicated hosting we would love to bring your site onto our network. We do not charge you a single cent, and even let you display your own ads (if you wish). In return, we ask for an AGN link and two of our ad banners to appear on your pages (certainly no popups or anything along those lines.)

Enjoy the site and keep checking back for fresh content.
